The Rep.Office was organized in 1997. I joined it in November 1998, right after default in Russia. My task was to start sales in Russia of PE, including cross-linked, PP, PVC compounds, specialty polymers produced abroad.
Responsibilities included: search for new clients and work with existing clients, signing of the contracts between HQ and Russian client; everyday management of the sales process (payment, logistics and transportation); business development (advertising, presentations, conferences). In 2000 basing on good results of polymer sales in Russia Solvay’s Board had taken a decision to build a joint venture in Russia in PVC compounding. In order to test the market I was transferred 100% to the sales of PVC compounds and finding a partner for JV. The sales of PVC compounds reached 10 000 ton in 2001. Nikohim had become Solvay’s partner in this project. Besides sales, in 2002 I was engaged in technical evaluation of two production sites, work with engineering company, design issues, negotiations with local authorities, legal problems between partners.
The JV Company - ZAO Soligran (34 people) was started in 2003.I was appointed Executive Director. I was in charge of equipment delivery from France, assembling it on site and start-up. After starting of production my duties included arranging of sales and supply departments structure, supervision of everyday sales, personal sales to key-clients, personnel recruitment and training.
