As architect of this project, my role is to define and implement a new architecture that has to take into account the specificities of each program, integrating the fact that the rules running those programs can be different from one program to another and can vary with the time, based on political decisions. Existing systems have implemented the 2007-2013 Funds regulation by using technologies and architectural solutions considered optimal at the time of their creation, but are currently outdated or do not fit in the architecture fostered by DG DIGIT. The SFC2014 Back-Office will improve the SFC2007 Back-Office by: • Improving the interoperability between systems, • Providing reusable services in order to avoid duplication of functionalities, • Allowing a better integration of future evolutions, • Building a more open and corporate oriented system, • Taking into account the lessons learnt during the development of the SFC2007 Back-Office. A mid to long-term objective is also to promote the SFC2014 Back-Office as an infrastructure/middleware that provides a set of foundation services that can be re-used by other applications.
