    The following achievements should be mentioned: • an environmental management system (EMS) in accordance with international standard ISO 14001:2004 was developed and implemented at all enterprises of “Petropavlovsk – Iron Ore”; • a corporate environmental policy and an environmental strategy were developed; • all necessary environmental standards and instructions in accordance with ISO 14001:2004 and the Russian requirements on corporate and project levels were developed; • the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for Kimkan&Sutara mining project was developed and brought into accord with IFC representatives and the public; • environmental projects, including OVOS in accordance with the Russian requirements for Kuranakh, Kimkan&Sutara mining projects were developed and brought into accord with authorities and the public; • environmental monitoring systems for Kimkan&Sutara, Garinskoye, Ushumunsky sites were developed and introduced; • corporate sustainable development indicators system for “Petropavlovsk – Iron Ore” was developed and introduced; • corporate stakeholder engagement guidance for “Petropavlovsk – Iron Ore”, stakeholder engagement plans (SEP), grievance mechanisms, a plan for the sustainable development of the indigenous peoples’ community for Kuranakh, Kimkan&Sutara and Ushumunsky sites were developed and implemented; • public hearings, including public hearings with the indigenous people, public environmental actions at Kuranakh, Kimkan&Sutara, Ushumunsky, Garinskoye sites were prepared and carried out; • the environment protection department of “Petropavlovsk – Iron Ore” was established and its work was arranged. The following responsibilities should be noticed: • ensuring of compliance with the environmental and hygienic legislation and licensing agreements; • ensuring of obtaining of the necessary environmental permits; • carrying out of the internal EHS audits; • maintenance of the external EHS audits (including IFC’s audits, environmental checks by local authorities); • development of the internal environmental instructions and standards; • interaction with contractors during the all execution phases; • development of the environmental reports in accordance with Russian legislation; • development of the environmental reports for a committee of directors.
