Most positions have been Oracle DBA roles which have consisted of standard DBA activities, such as software installation; backup and recovery planning and implementation; database sizing; user account management; performance monitoring; schema management for development projects etc. The specific duties listed below are selective and often exclude some of these activities. I was in a lead in the Production DBA team who supported a variety of business systems ranging from Oracle 9i to 11g, running on Windows and Linux environments. This included on call support outside normal business hours, trouble-shooting and project consultancy. • Supported full life cycle of more than hundred databases. • Owned and developed a detailed database creation process to improve the quality of new Oracle system deployments. • Refined a full production copy test environment refresh procedure for all projects, reducing the duration dramatically and improving reliability. • Migrated Oracle databases from version 9i to 10g, 9i to 11g. • Contributed extensively to efforts to maintain software versions at supported levels, including moving to supported releases and applying quarterly critical patch updates. • Developed data warehouse to service the reporting, online analytics, and data mining. The system made extensive use of Oracle features, including partitioning, materialized views, extended tables and bitmap indexes. Implemented replication based on Oracle Streams. • Analysis and redevelopment of the SQL code to improve performance dramatically and increase resilience. • Worked closely with Developers Group to perform tuning the database design and code to achieve optimal performance, concurrency and data integrity for computational intensive applications. • Determined and corrected the errors. Working with developers to identify and solve database problems.

I was initially hired as a development DBA to design a new business application. This project was a migration from pre-existing non-Oracle software to an Oracle server. Following the successful completion of this project, my skills were transferred to another part of the system under database administration. • Creation of data subset mini-schema for testing. • Designed a structure, sizing and configuration production databases. • Improvements to backup scripts to ensure that the correct files were being saved. • Performance analysis of own application and recommending SQL improvements. • Analysis of current optimization model and moved to cost-based optimization.
