The internship at MEA consisted of practical training at the different branches within the Mideast Aircraft Services Company (MASCO), a subsidiary of MEA. Senior employees oversaw the hands-on training at the maintenance facilities (hangars, wheels and brakes workshop, metal workshop, composites workshop, avionics & standards), and enlightened the trainees on the managerial and legal procedures associated with operating and maintaining a fleet of aircraft. In addition, the trainees were made aware of the technical documentation (Aircraft Maintenance Manual and Component Maintenance Manual) dictating the maintenance operations of MEA's Airbus fleet.

My internship at the university involved contribution to research on the levels of noise generated in the vicinity of three major UK airports (Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester). Specifically, I was tasked with creating virtual rectangular grids around the airports, whereby each cell of the grid corresponded to the predominant ground area surface type (e.g. concrete, asphalt, grass, forest etc). The purpose of the geographical grids was to enable the discretization of large-scale noise attenuation resulting from the physical properties of the surrounding topography.
